On 07/09/2026 at 11:15 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Liam Bucsko conducted an Unannounced Subsequent Complaint Investigation at Small Size, Big Mind Inc. LPA met with Site Director Becky Rygg and explained the purpose of the investigation. Finding for the above allegation was delivered during the inspection.

Complainant alleges that children are allowed to play supervised in the facility kitchen while food is being prepared. During the course of the investigation, LPA observed staff procedures, reviewed records, and conducted interviews.
It was determined that during the preparation of morning snack, two children in care have been permitted to use the facility for limited play activities while under the supervision of staff.
Based on the interviews and information obtained throughout the investigation, the preponderance of evidence standard has been met. Therefore, the allegation is SUBSTANTIATED. California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 12 is being cited; see page 9099-D for details.
