For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. The following information regarding ADA was provided: US Department of Justice (USDOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice) or (800) 514- 0383 (TTY) and link to publication: Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA are available at: https://www.ada.gov/resources/child-care-centers/.
LPA Observations During Inspection:
LPA observed several Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapists conducting one-on-one sessions with children in the classrooms. The ABA therapists were taking notes on their tablets while working individually with the children assigned to their care. Upon entering the classroom, LPA observed that the children were calm, quiet, and preparing for nap time. Several children approached LPA and introduced themselves. LPA responded by introducing himself and explaining that he was conducting an Annual Random licensing inspection.
LPA observed that the staff restroom is separate from the children's restrooms. The children's restrooms are located inside each classroom. LPA verified that the toilets were functioning properly by flushing them and confirmed they were in safe operating condition. LPA also tested the water temperature and verified that it was not excessively hot for children in care. Adequate supplies of soap, toilet tissue, and paper towels were available for children's use.
The outdoor playground areas were inspected and found to be fully fenced and free of defects or hazardous conditions. Mature trees and shade canopies provide adequate shade for children during outdoor activities. The playground equipment is age appropriate, in good repair, and includes a permanently anchored play structure with a slide and cushioning underneath to help absorb falls. Additional outdoor equipment includes ride-on toys, tricycles, building blocks, a playhouse, tables, chairs, and a water station. LPA observed that all equipment appeared to be maintained in a safe condition and appropriate for the age of the children in care.
California Law requires Child Care Centers licensees to report unusual incidents or injuries to children in care to child's parents and to the Department of Social Services using the Unusual Incident/Injury form (LIC 624). Incidents must be reported within 24 hours by phone, fax, or electronic mail. The facility representative was also reminded that Mandated Reporter Training ("General" and "Child Care Providers") is required for all staff and is to be renewed every 2 years by visiting www.mandatedreporterca.com.
