32 | On 5/22/2023, LPA Ornelas conducted an unannounced visit at the Family Child Care (FCC). LPA did not observe any mold on the walls throughout the home ,but did observe that the activity room has what looks like dry wall/paint. When asked what happened, licensee explained that the walls “broke” due to the rain, so her husband fixed it again with the dry wall and when the children wrote on the wall, they painted it.
-Pertaining to the allegation that “Staff do not provide adequate supervision to children in care”:
According to the Reporting Party, children have sustained injuries, such as bite marks and scratch marks due to licensee's lack of supervision. In addition, a long time ago. a child fell outside of the facility and hit their head and the child's parent was very worried because her child's behavior changed after the fall.
Three of the four parents interviewed reported that their children have never obtained any injuries deemed out of the ordinary when it comes to child’s play while in care.
-Pertaining to the allegation that “Facility is not kept free of hazards”:
According to the Reporting Party, the facility has an electrical socket outside that has been loose for about six months and children like playing with it.
On 5/22/2023, LPA Ornelas conducted an unannounced visit at the Family Child Care (FCC). LPA observed outlet in the play yard to have a plastic cover over it secured with tape, making it inaccessible to children. When asked about it, Adult #1 stated that it was taped because the bottom latch is loose. The other one, on the side, is located on the side of the backyard playroom in an off limits gated area.
Based on the evidence as documented above, the allegations have been determined to be Unsubstantiated. A finding that the complaint is unsubstantiated means that although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of the evidence to prove that the allegation occurred.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Licensee Diana Okonina. |
