During the inspection, LPA observed a total of six (6) sinks and six (6) toilets, and three (3) changing tables for children to use, which is not sufficient for the requested capacity of 96 children. Mary Beckelheimer, Early Learning Administrator, stated they will submit a request for a waiver so that children can use restrooms in rooms 42 and 44. The staff has two (2) adult bathrooms available in the workroom area. The isolation area for children is the nurse’s office; children will rest there, equipped with a cot. A toilet and sink in the nurse's room are designated for sick children's use.
ON-SITE FOOD PREPARATION: The center will provide lunch, morning, and afternoon snacks for children.
OUTDOOR INSPECTION: Playgrounds A and B have a combined outdoor activity space of 16,635 square feet, accommodating 96 preschool children. Playground A accounts for 8,950 square feet, while Playground B accounts for 7,685 square feet. The facility playground is all fenced at least 4 feet high. Shade is provided. There are sufficient outdoor age-appropriate toys and play equipment available on the playground. There is enough cushioning on the playground. LPA observed two (2) slides and three (3) swings on the playground. (Built-in commercial foam). Drinking water is available to children in care, by children bringing their water bottles from home with their name on them, and water dispensers with disposable cups.
LEAD TESTING: Drinking water is available in children's own water bottles, which can be refilled at the refill station. For childcare center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure, pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP). The facility is exempt from water lead testing because the building was constructed after January 2010.
CRIMINAL RECORD CLEARANCE: Mary Beckelheimer Early Learning Administrator was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, before initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 per day, for a maximum of 5 days, or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person, will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
