On 01/25/2023, at 9:55 a.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Rajani Goudreau conducted an unannounced Annual Inspection and met with the Licensee, Alejandra Sanchez. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the licensee. There were eight children in care; including one infant and seven preschool age children. In addition, licensees’ spouse and helper were present in the home. The following areas are used for childcare: Formal living room, formal dining room, living room, nook, restroom located in the hallway of home and backyard. The following off-limit areas are made securely inaccessible including the kitchen, laundry room, converted garage, second story of home (including three bedrooms and two bathrooms). Operation hours are Monday through Friday to 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector met requirements, per LPA observation. LPA observed hazardous items inaccessible to children in care. LPA informed licensee poisons shall be placed in a storage area and locked. LPA observed toys, play equipment and materials available for the children’s use. The home has a fenced backyard available for outdoor activities. LPA informed licensee children shall be supervised during outdoor activities. LPA did not observe any bodies of water on the premises during the inspection. In addition, licensee confirmed there are no bodies of water on the premises of the property. There is a gas fireplace located in the living room (childcare room) that is securely screened and with the gas turned off, per observation. In addition, there is a firearm located in the home. The firearm and the ammunition are stored and locked separately, per observation. LPA discussed firearm and ammunition storage regulations. A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances or exemptions. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Licensee First Aid and CPR certification is valid and expire in February 2024.
