The Licensee denied the allegation, stating that she never witnessed A1 being inappropriate in any way with the children. The Licensee recalls needing to speak to A1 to tell them how to react when children want to climb on them, explaining that staff need to stand up, so that children can’t climb on them.
S1 did not disclose any concerns about A1, but did mention that A1 seemed “spacey”, walking away after being asked to complete a task, and not responding or acknowledging what was said verbally. S1 shared recalling needing to tell A1 that teachers should not touch the kids, when they witnessed A1 touching each child on their backs as A1 counted the children walking into the bathroom.
During the investigation LPA Strother interviewed two adults (A2 & A3) and one staff (S2) between 06/19/26 and 09/17/26. A2, the reporting party, stated that although they have no direct connection to the facility and can’t speak directly to anything that may have occurred at the facility, they learned of a situation involving A1 and felt concerned about the children A1 formerly worked with.
Children interviewed, all reported feeling safe at school. Each child mentioned A1 by name when recalling who their teachers are or were in the past. Four out of five children specifically stated that they liked teacher A1.
A3, a law enforcement officer, stated that although the incident that he was investigating was not directly related to the facility, he did speak with parents of children who attended the facility and there was no indication of disclosures by children or offenses by A1 at the facility.
S2 stated that although they recall a time in April 2026 that they witnessed a child to be physically close to A1, they never witnessed conduct that they felt posed a risk to the children in care. S2 stated that they felt A1 should have moved away from the child and not allowed them to be in their personal space, as with all teaching staff; teaching children personal space boundaries.
