25 | On 07/20/2026, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Valerie Mireles conducted a Case Management inspection that was initiated by the licensee. LPA met with Lead Teacher for YCCD, MJC, Early Care & Education Laboratory, Catherine Gray Jones. LPA conducted a tour of the facility inside and outside. The purpose of the inspection was to inspect the cushioning material of the outdoor playground structure.
The Department was notified, on 07/06/2026, that the playground was ready for an inspection.
On 04/07/2026, the total outdoor play yard size was measured to be approximately 6806 square feet, which accommodates Licensee’s capacity of 32 preschool children and has not been modified. The climbing structure has a manufacture’s sticker that states that it is for children 2 years to 5 years of age. The Center currently has the area sectioned off with the usage of plastic security fence that is orange, along with safety cones due to the cushioning repairs and pending Community Care Licensing inspection. LPA observed the cushioning material around and underneath the play structure and determined that there is adequate cushioning in fall zones of climber provided by pour in rubber. Drinking water is available via pitchers, water containers, and disposable cups. Licensee was reminded that any additional changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing.
Playground equipment is in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. At the end of the inspection, LPA met with Catherine Gray Jones to review the report and conclude the inspection. The outdoor play area has been approved for facility use by preschool children, effective today 07/20/2026.
Per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1, of the California Code of Regulations, no deficiencies are being cited. Lead Teacher Catherine Gray Jones was provided a copy of appeal rights. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
