On 08/01/2024 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tobias Lake conducted an unannounced annual inspection and met with Licensee’s staff, Chris Sarver. LIC (126), Entrance Checklist for Family Child Care Homes, was provided and reviewed with Licensee’s staff. Present in the facility was one staff, and Licensee’s roommate. Facility hours of operation are Monday – Thursday from 8am – 5pm, Friday 8am – 4pm. LPA verified that annual fees are current. LPA observed a garage that has been converted to a day care room with a kitchen area and bathroom. Staff stated that the garage was still under construction when they started on June 13th, 2024. Staff informed LPA that only the garage is used for daycare at this time. Staff informed LPA that Licensee was not present at the facility for the entire day care day, taking care of personal things. LPA texted Licensee and Licensee confirmed they were not at the facility for the day. LPA was let into the rest of home by the roommate. LPA was told by staff that the home is no longer used for day care ever since the garage renovation was completed.

LPA observed that the roommate did not have their background check completed via the Guardian website while at the facility. Licensee is reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
