Sources & method

Every record on this site is reproduced from a state child-care licensing agency, under that state’s public-records law. We copy what the inspector recorded — the dates, the violation text, the state’s own severity label — date our copy, and link the official source on every line. We add one thing: a grouping of each state’s severity labels into three plain-English classes (paperwork, standard, health & safety), reviewed state by state, and always shown beside the state’s own label.

We do not rate, rank or recommend providers. We publish no reviews, no “best of” lists, and no scores of our own. We never publish photographs of children, staff personal histories, or a home address the state itself has withheld. Names of individuals are redacted from violation narratives.

Corrections are free, always. Use “Report an error” on any provider page. Privacy concerns are answered within 24 hours; everything else within five business days. There is no fee to remove or correct anything, for anyone.
